Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
|
I hope G&S are listening, because we will go backwards again without similar investment as last summer. We have one of the oldest injury prone squads in the Premiership and probably why we remain so inconsistent.

West Ham owners left in no doubt over manager’s summer expectations
Pellegrini has made it clear he expects financial backing again this summer if he is to achieve his and the club’s ambitions. “You can make that jump in quality (to challenge the top teams),” Pellegrini told whufc.com.
“That’s why I’m here. It’s not about compromising and saying ‘well, they’re the six big teams and we have to stay down here beneath them’.
“If you’re not signing a single player then OK but if there is investment and that investment goes with having a proper idea about how you want to play, then why can’t you make that jump in quality?
“Yes, you need time, but the clock starts ticking from the first minute we arrive. You can’t say ‘no, we need three years to do anything’. You have to try to do it in the first year and if you come up short then you address those shortcomings and go again the second season.
“The first target is Europe. It’s a very personal target because it’s something I have always done it. In five years in Villarreal we always played in Europe be that Champions League or Europa League.
“Then we got Malaga into the Champions League,. Then we played in the Champions League with Real Madrid, and then got Manchester City out of the group stage for the first time.
“So, I don’t imagine not having a mentality of trying for that. I’m certain we will achieve it. If we don’t this season then this is a year of preparing for trying to do it next season.”
“The hardest thing is when you take on a team that is not accustomed to have that as an objective. “The mentality is not there because they are not used to it. But it was the same at Villarreal and Malaga.”
Sullivan and Gold had better be prepared for another summer of heavy investment.
At least three – if not all four – of West Ham’s senior strikers could leave in the summer and need replacing.
West Ham are short in several areas. They need more energy and athleticism in central midfield. They require a new left-back, a new central defender – possibly two – and more squad depth generally.
The club may not have much left to play for this season.
But it means they can make headway on transfer targets ready for when the window re-opens.

We shifted Ayew/Sakho/ Fonte last Jan.
It's all smoke and mirrors with the owners. You have to really keep track of the outs, especially in the January window because sure as hell the owners never mention the carry over of funds into the summer.

What has RLC done to make you want him as a starter for us?
6 goals and 3 assists in 57 appearances
There is better out there for 35 million

aside from Kouyate & Burke we didnt shift many, however they had a surplus of funds from the previous year (think our net spend was about £15m).
of those you list we will be lucky to get money for some of them - but it will free up wages.

We spent about 100 mill last summer and I cant remember many outgoings. Cant see why we cant do the same this summer?
I can see quite a few leaving this summer bringing a bit of money in aswell.
If we can get Carroll, Reid, Hernandez, Perez, Obiang, Sanchez all out the door it should free up alot in wages.

MP will get approx £35m + whatever we make from sales (arnie & hernandez).
prob spend about £70m all in and we won't hear the last of it............... when in theory it's a moderate spend.

If we do ship out the lot you mention then I can see no reason at all why we won't be going in for 7 new players. We will probably, in fact, get even more.

We need a physical beast in midfield...I don't mean a dirty bastard either...just a notable presence with a huge pair of lungs who won't allow us to be easily overrun.
I thought when Kouyate first joined that was going to be him but then he slowly went backwards...early days I was impressed though...

We need a centre midfielder for the first eleven.
Coventry might become a great player but will at most be a squad player next season.
The 2 main signings in the summer should be a CM and a striker.

"Our midfield needs another player, maybe Coventry, Holland or the returning Fernandes can fit that bill."
We need a central midfielder, Holland plays wide, Fernandes isn't good enough . Coventry is though could be a very decent player

This is what I've seen from this thread.
Pea, Carroll, Perez and Arnie all going - 4 strikers Obiang must go Masauku must go. Reid must go.
That's 7 players there already.
I can't see us going for seven players in the summer. We need to think about promoting the younger squad players through the ranks and that needs to happen now.
We definitely need 2 new quality strikers, with a view on using Xande in the first team.
Our midfield needs another player, maybe Coventry, Holland or the returning Fernandes can fit that bill.
Left back and right back need a bolster, as well as centre back, think we need new players brought in for those roles.

He has - appeared - in 21 games and done 90 minutes in 8 of them.
They know more than you or I do.
"Given the shambles that Fiorentina’s midfield has been in for most of the year, you can’t blame the fans for looking forward to 2019-2020, when the arrivals of Hamed Junior Traorè and Szymon Żurkowski look set to bolster the Viola engine room."

But them bringing in (or back) central midfielders next year is not a matter of opinion.
Hopefully he continues to improve and comes back and provides some cover/competition but I would not say he has done very well there.

He has played 21 games for them this season so must be doing something right. Still only 22. Maybe he can come in for Obiang and we sign another CM to partner Rice.
Dont spend too much time reading other fansites. This season alone on here apparently Fabianski, diop antonio and anderson have all been shit/bad signings at some point .

Fernandes had a good week in that he scored his first goal for them, at distance.
I was curious about how he was doing.
They just bought a central midfielder that will come in, in the summer and have some injuries. One of their fansites was counting on him leaving, not sure what they know.

I think Obiang will be sold for around 10 mill also.
Masuaku, will he be sold and another left back come in? Maybe or he may play him as a left midfielder like Moyes did. He is better there we he can beat a man and not worry about defending as much.
Fernandes may also come back. Apparently doing very well in Italy and only 22 but Fiorentina have a buy out clause for 10 million.
Carroll and Reid need to be moved on aswell.

Although it sounds absurd to older fans like me, the search for a couple of 50m forwards must start now...

Ship out Hernandez (£10m) Arnautovic (40m) that's 50 million without any additional funds made from TV rights blah blah.
We should have another at least 100 million to spend this year. For once we have a manager capable of attracting players.

I have no idea what we will spend and I hope they don't blab about it because that is stupid negotiating.
If Pellegrini is saying this and they are "printing" it, I have reason to be optimistic, I think. But then I usually do.
We do need to buy (or sign) young or youngish, like Frederick, Diop, Balbuena and Anderson again.

The 2bobs are notorious for having short arms and long pockets so not expecting any fireworks in the summer, remember Sullivan said the move to the cesspit will only bring us another £10m player each season.
